In a dramatic finale, a rogue satellite heads for Earth, and there's trouble ahead for the Callaghans.
Over the last few weeks, station commander Mick Callaghan's long - suffering, maic depressive wife Shauna, played by Liza Walker, has gone through quite a bit of upheaval. And needless to say, there's more where that came from.
In a Hollywood - style, two - hour finale episode, a stray satellite is headed to Earth, threatening major devastation. But Shauna's got other things on her mind.
While everyone on Blue Watch is busy implementing emergency procedures in case the satellite should hit, they are also foreced to take a hard look at the way their lives are going.
Sally (Heather Peace) is pregnant with Frank Mooney's (Tristan Gemmill) child - as is Shauna. At least, Shauna thinks it's Frank's. If so, it's the result of her brief fling with Mooney and is likely to spell the end of her marriafe to Mick (Anthony Green), which is already on the rocks.
"Mick and Shauna have not been happy together and we've seen their relationship get shakier and shakier," says Liza, 29.
"But now it's all gone pear - shaped. Shauna can't help her mental illness - it's been brought about by circumstances. Mick's not around much and she's stuck at home all day. When Frank came along, she was vulnerable."
Liza tried to do some research into manic depression for her role, but found it difficult.
"I'm glas I'm not a manic depressive because I didn't get much help," she says. "No one was very forthcoming. But I know someone who's manic depressive so I drew a lot on that."
What Shauna decides to do about her pregnancy remain's to be seen, but Liza's own home life is more settled.
The actress, who lives in north - west London, is engaged to Donnie, a musician, and is stepmum to his four - year - old son, Jack. And she's back on TV after a long absense.
"I've been working in the theatre, I haven't been away," protests Liza, whose previous screen credits include the series Teenage Health Freaks and The Jungle Book and Buddy's Song.
"I also took time off to be a mother to my stepson and it's been fun.
"when this part came along I wasn't really looking to get back into a series, but it's a show with a good reputation so I was happy to get involved. Shauna is a really juicy role to play."
Will she continue with the role? "We're not sure yet and I've no idea where Mick and Shauna are going," says Liza.
"We're waiting with baited breath. But I'd definitely do more. It's been a great job."
