A flat is alight and parents and two children are trapped. The mum dials 999, but soon collapses. Nancy is on control and hears the screams, but she is helpless. She calls back through to the operator, so the location can be tracked.
The Watch arrive and Hallam, Josie and George work together to free the children, but the parents are both dead.
It is revealed that Charisma has left the Watch to work at staff and they all begin to go on about how they think the Watch is jinxed. Tate states that the Watch is not jinxed and Josie agrees with him. George then upsets Josie, reminding her that she doesn't have to worry, because she won't be with them for much longer!
The Watch later find Josie crying in the dorm, George apologises and Josie tells them all that she will miss them when she leaves and it is pointed out that she's only transfering, not leaving the country!
Bayleaf goes to see a Mrs Roger, about child minding Melanie, who is is now looking after permentantly while Karen is in hospital. He discovers the woman is not a registered child minder and can't help with his shift pattern.
The Watch hold a leaving do for Josie in the SAS. Technique is doing a turn, but the Watch have to keep an eye out for him, after Jaffa explains that Technique has been off work with a 'bad back' and that his Guv'nor will be in soon for a drink, but won't be in for long. Tony keeps an eye out for Technique outside and tells him to drive around for a bit, until his Guv'nor has gone.
Jaffa reveals to the Watch that his nephew Colin is going to be there new hand. He is fresh out of training school and Jaffa warns them not to take the mickey out of him!
Technique enters the pub, after his Guv'nor had gone. Unknown to him, he is being watched by the Brigade's Secret Squirrels!
While Technique is getting ready, he meets Marion out the back.
Malcolm gives a speech on the stage and then Tate also says a few words and also reads a note from Charisma. Malcolm then introduces Josie's present from the Watch - Fireman Gary 'Technique' Pagnal!
The next morning, Colin Parrish drives into work on his moped! He later tries to impress the Watch and Tate isn't pleased and tells Malcolm to find the nearest thing they have to a play pen and chuck him in it and tie him up!
Josie arrives for her first shift at Charlton and meets one of the Watch members, who told her that the Guv told them that the new Leading Hand would be a tart, but they didn't believe him! He also tells them that they all have Red Indian nicknames and that they call their Guv'nor Bald Eagle!
Tate talks to Colin in his office, telling him that he must stick to Malcolm like glue and do everything that he tells him.
The Watch tell gulible Colin that Tate is a Born Again Christian and that he must not swear in his presence and that he should say grace before meals! Then later, when Tate's crew go to Lewisham, Colin asks Bayleaf is he knows any good graces!
Nancy goes to see Marion and reveals that she is transfering from Control and into Careers. Marion wants to move away, because everything reminds her of Vaseline, but everyone considers it to be too early. She reveals she is lonely and still expects to see Vaseline walk through the doors.
A.C.O. Bulstrode tells Malcolm that he will only be getting an informal warning about Vaseline's death. Malcolm blames himself and he is told by both Bulstrode and Tate that the Watch understands and do not blame him, even Marion understands.
Colin says grace before the Watch's meal, which impresses Tate! Later, when Tate mentions Colin saying grace and it reminding him of his childhood, the Watch tell Tate that Colin is a Born Again Christian!
Duffy invites Hallam out in the evening at the training college, but Hallam says 'no', knowing that Duffy has only one thing on his mind and Hallam does not want anything getting back to Sandra.
Josie is out shopping where the spots David, the attempted rapist, out shopping with his wife. Josie quickly runs out of the shop and chases him down the street and causes a scene until David is arrested!
Sicknote is livid when he discovers that an office block is going to be built on a local city farm. The owner tells Sicknote that they have been trying to find another location for months, but have had no luck and a lot of the animals will have to be put down.
Josie gives a statement and she is told that David will be detained, as he fits her previous description. David, whose real name is Michael, is informed of his rights, as he is detained.
Clare suggests to Bayleaf that he and Melanie should move in with her. She also suggests that he transfers to Croydon, which is just down the road from where she lives.
Sicknote plans to place an ad in the paper to start an action group to save the city farm! He also plans to start a petition! He later tries to get the Watch to sign the petition, which he plans to forge with local addresses, but Tate firmly points out that he won't put his signature down on a petition with forged addresses!
The Watch are called to a shout where an old building in ablaze. En route to the shout, Colin is so excited that he puts his helmet on back-to-front! Then when he arrives at the shout, he gets so excited, that he accidently knocks a tramp over when he waves the hose around too much! Colin in then sent in the fire with George, where he accidently sprays a live mains with water and is blasted out of the building. Tate quickly rushes over to Colin to see if he's ok, but all he is worried about is if he put the fire out!
Tate when he spots Colin drive into work on his moped...
Josie when a bloke on her new Watch goes on about them all having Red Indian nicknames...
