The bells go down at Blackwall. Geoff gets the message from the watch room and hands a copy to George. George tells Nick it's both- to smoke issuing in the warehouse where John Hallam died only a couple of weeks ago. Geoff jumps into the Pump Ladder and sits in silence. Jack jumps in afterwards and tells Geoff to get over it, and stop acting like a pratt!
The Dennis' race out of Blackwall and speed off to the shout.
On the way, in the Pump Ladder, Jack looks at Pearce who is remaining silent. Nick turns to Recall and tells him to speed up past the crossing. The appliances splash through huge puddles and swerve through the stationary traffic. They pull up by the warehouse. Geoff and Jack jump out. Nick talks to the Construction manager and says that 4 girls ran into the building with a yound bloke. Nick asks the manager where the fire is. The manager tells him there are flames in the basement. Nick tells Carole and Sicknote to get rigged and Jack to lay out some tubin. Geoff tells Nick he'll go inside with Recall and look for the girls. Nick asks the manager where the girls where going. The manager tells Nick they ran up to the top floor. Geoff is now a bit hesitant. Nick tells Recall to look after Geoff and sends them up to the top.
Geoff and Recall make their way up the many flights of stairs. The walls are black from the huge blaze before and all they have are their torches to guide them to the top. Geoff shouts out to the girls. His loud voice causes huge echos in the building. He turns round and finds that Recall isn't behind him. Geoff presumes Recall's gone to look on another floor and carries on his quest to the top. As he makes his way up to the top, he hears the sounds of sirens and shouting echoing through the building. He turns the corner and looks at the broken gantry. He takes a gulp of air and walks over to it. As he gets closer, the events of that night start to play in front of him. Geoff sees visions of Hallam slipping off the gantry, plunging 40 feet and landing on the netting. The illusions stop and Geoff looks down over the broken gantry.
Hallam suddenly appears out of nowhere. Geoff turns in shock. Hallam tells Geoff that they need to have a chat and tells him to sit down. Hallam and Pearce both crouch down. Hallam is holding his radio. He tells Geoff that if he hadn't lost his radio, they wouldn't of had to go back over the gantry again. Geoff asks Hallam what he wants. Hallam stands up and tells Geoff that he wants answers as to why Geoff didn't try to help him when the gantry broke away. Geoff tells him he wouldn't, he wanted to, but that he was too far away to reach out to Hallam. Hallam tells Geoff that he knows it wasn't his fault and says it's just one of those things, it can happen to anyone. Geoff gets up. As he stands, he steps back and slips off the edge. Hallam grabs his hand and tries to drag Pearce up, but then says he cant. Geoff tells Hallam to help him. Hallam tells Geoff is too heavy and lets go. Geoff plumetts down the warehouse, shouting at Hallam that he's sorry for his death...
Suddenly Geoff wakes up. He gets up out of his bed, sweating and notices his sweat-soaked bed. He realises it was all a nightmare and runs his hands through his hair in relief.
