BRIEF: George was an ex-boxer, who used to be a professional. George often got involved with the sport.

FAMILY: George was married to Kelly and they had two children; Ruby and Shaun, but the marriage ended in divorce. George re-married Andie in Series 14.

ROMANCE: George had a tough time trying to find the right girl. He dated Julia, a librarian under false pretences, after Malcolm wrote her a poem and Sicknote sang as George mimed outside Julia's flat! In the end, George got his date, but did confess to Julia that she wasn't the woman she thought he was. Julia knew this all along! Julia and George split after things got difficult and George accused her of having an affair with Malcolm!

George met Kelly in Series 3, when his sister Beattie talked him into going to ballroom dancing. The two later married and had two children, Ruby and Shaun.

George and Kelly's marriage ended in Series 12, after Kelly had an affair with Chris Hammond. George walked out on Kelly and ended up sleeping in the station, then at Hyper's house and then on the top bunk of Lenny's bunk bed at Andie's!

Andie and George's relationship blossomed and they got together and married in Series 14.

TOUGH TIMES: In Series 13, George was accused of steeling a broach out of a woman's bag on a shout. This occurred after Adam had pulled the woman out of a burning building and she dropped her bag on the floor, causing the contents to spill out onto the pavement. Shadbrook also attended the shout, but they all denied having anything to do with the missing broach.

It later turned out that Flatty from Shadbrook had taken the broach, after confessing to George when he was trapped in an over-turned Turntable Ladder.

In Series 13, George broke his arm on a shout, after he was trapped by rubble in a burning warehouse. Everyone thought George was ok, until he visited the Watch at the station and collapsed, suffering a Subdural Haematoma.

OTHER: Glen Murphy supports West Ham United and also likes horse riding. His father - Terrence Murphy, uncle - Joe Lucy and uncle - Eddie Wright, were all boxers. Glen's first fight was at the age of nine. He became the British Schoolboy Champion and went onto fight for England. Glen also played football for Chelsea as a schoolboy and became an apprentice with Charlton.

Glen is the patron of the SupportLine charity. SupportLine provides a confidential telephone helpline offering emotional support to individuals on any issue.

Glen was awarded an MBE in 2007 for the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
